The Cancer Coalition of Southwest Colorado works with local, state, and national agencies to help educate our communities about care and prevention.

American Cancer Society (ACS) – works to free the world of cancer by funding research, sharing expert cancer information, and supporting patients.

Cancer Resource Center of Durango – provides wigs, hats, scarfs, cancer information and assists patients with lodging and travel for treatment. 65 Mercado St, Suite 203, Durango. 970-403-0086.

Cancer Support Community SW Colorado – Since 2014, originally Blueprints of Hope, a cancer support organization working to improve the quality of life for individuals facing cancer in Southwest Colorado; offer a variety of programs that provide support, healthy lifestyle classes, educational workshops, resources and referrals, and social activities.

Cancer Support Community (National): A to Z List of Cancer Support Resources – valued resource on all cancers.

Cancer Resource Alliance of Montezuma and Dolores Counties – provides free breast and reproductive cancer screenings through local providers in the Southwest region. 0ffers grants to individuals in cancer treatment.

Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado – educates the communities in five counties and supports the non-profit sector through fiscal sponsorship, professional development, technical assistance, and grants.

Journey of Hope – helps provide free mammograms and follow up treatment for breast cancer through monies raised by Journey of Hope Run/Walk. Contact: Mercy Health Foundation Durango 970-764-2800.

National Institute of Health National Cancer Institute – federal government’s principal agency for cancer research and training.

Prostate Cancer Support Group of Durango – support group meets monthly at the Durango Library, first Tuesday of the month, 6:30 PM.

Sense of Security – Denver non-profit providing financial assistance to individuals going through breast cancer treatment.

Susan G Koman Colorado – non-profit, philanthropic organization whose mission is to end breast cancer through research, care, community and action.

United Way of Southwest Colorado – supports local agencies and programs that promote education, healthy life styles, and self-reliance.

Women’s Resource Center – creates personal, social, and professional growth opportunities for all women in LaPlata County.

Women’s Wellness Connection – Colorado Department of Public Health agency providing free or low-cost mammograms and cervical cancer screening for women.
